Things To Do

GILI ACTIVITIES
The Gilis are well set up for a wide range of activities, whether you are seeking adventure and thrills, or idyllic island experiences. Relax on the lounges at Pesona Resort with an exotic sheesha, join the fun party at Tir Na Nog Irish Bar, try a traditional massage or spend the day at an island Spa.
Enjoy a beach barbeque of fresh fish on Gili Meno, sample local Lombok fare at a beachfront café on Gili Air, or dine on Japanese, Indian or a huge range of international dishes on Gili Trawangan. Spend your days sunbathing on beautiful beaches, collecting shells on the seaside, watching magnificent sunsets and discovering magical underwater scenery. Whatever your tastes, these islands have something for everyone!

DIVING AND SNORKELLING

There is good snorkelling directly off the beach on all three Gilis. Many small stalls hire snorkelling equipment for the day and it’s easy to float on the gentle currents, watching the colourful parade in the crystal clear waters below.
Of course, the Gilis are famous for superb diving and there is a large selection of professional and experienced dive operators on the islands. Learn how to scuba dive during your holiday, update your skills with Nitrox dives and Technical dive courses, or discover the wonders of night diving.
Visit the accredited dive schools for diving trips and certified dive courses for all ages and levels of experience.

FISHING TRIPSWhether you want to spend the day lazing on a boat with a cold beer and throwing a line over the side, or are looking for a serious deep sea fishing adventure, the Gilis have all types of fishing options. Line fishing and trawling can be arranged on all islands -- enquire at your hotel or with the local fishing boat operators. On Gili Trawangan, contact The Beach House who can arrange fishing trips and charters with local fishing boats or onboard their boat, “Catch-a-Snapper”. All have experienced captains and fishermen with built in fish finders!

ISLAND HOPPING

All three islands have their own unique style and a day spent island hopping is a good way to discover the Gili of your dreams! Each island is within a short distance of the other and the waters between the Gilis are usually calm. Charter local boats on any of the islands for a day of exploring, or arrange a package tour out on the islands that includes snorkelling, turtle watching or a picnic lunch on a secluded beach

WATER SPORTS

With so much water surrounding the islands, there are plenty of water sport options available, especially for thrill-seekers. Many hotels and tour operators can arrange water-skiing, biscuiting, wake boarding or speedboat hires just for fun. Try Ferrari Water Sports, The Beach House or Hotel Vila Ombak on Gili Trawangan. For more sedate water activities, there are also kayaks and wind surfers for hire.
In the right conditions, there are good surf breaks off Gili Air and Gili Trawangan. Surf boards are for hire along the beachfront and experienced local surfers will act as your guide.

HORSE RIDINGThe Stud Stables on Gili Trawangan have a choice of well-schooled horses available for hire. Experienced staff can arrange horse rides from beginners levels through to experienced. Meander along the sandy beaches and the quiet roads, with no cars or traffic to hinder your ride, and enjoy the relaxed pace of the islands from horseback.

GLASS BOTTOM BOAT HIRE

Exploring the waters off the Gilis by glass bottom boat is a peaceful and rewarding way to spend a day, especially with children. Charter a glass bottom boat or join in one of the trips on offer from boat operators on any of the three islands. With clear calm waters and good visibility this is an excellent way to experience the magical beauty of the reefs.
The experienced boat captains will take you to sites where you can marvel at the beauty of the reefs, discover the abundant and colourful sea life, and, if you’re lucky, catch a glimpse of a giant sea turtle!
